Artist Statement

abstract acrylic painting

My paintings emerge from the intersection of landscape and memory. Rooted in places I have experienced, they transform remembered environments into abstract fields of color, shape, and gesture. Rather than depicting specific locations, the work explores how memory distills experience, allowing each painting to become a collection of color memories—some recent, others carried for decades.

Working across canvas and paper, I combine acrylic paint, watercolor, oil sticks, charcoal, and occasional collage to create layered surfaces. My process is intuitive and responsive. I begin each piece on the floor or a tabletop, where physical movement and close engagement with the surface offer opportunities for discovery. As the work develops, I move it to the wall, rotating and reworking it through cycles of painting, drawing, and collage.

Each painting takes shape through a dialogue between intention and intuition. Forms emerge, disappear, and return until the composition reaches a sense of resonance. The finished work is not a representation of a particular place, but an invitation to experience landscape as it is remembered—fragmented, emotional, and continually reshaped by time.

Biography

Pamela Weber is an abstract painter based in Basalt, Colorado. Her work explores memory, emotion, and lived experience through layered compositions of collage, acrylic paint, oil pastel, and charcoal. Guided by intuition, she uses color, shape, and line to evoke a sense of place while inviting personal reflection.

After a successful career as an interior designer, Weber turned to painting in 2024 to pursue a more personal creative practice. What began as exploration quickly became a full-time commitment.

Her practice has been shaped by study at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, participation in NYC Crit Club's yearlong Canopy Program, and founding Blink, a pop-up gallery in Basalt. She has exhibited in Colorado and New York and has studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2026).
